Click You may recall that when Sam Smith officially opened the renovated windmill in 2019 he told us that it had inspired some of his early songs.
Imogen (12) has been similarly inspired and recently submitted the following poem to a National Children's writing competition. Enjoy.
Chisella the Chishill Fairy
Upon a windy village hill
Stands a white and boarded mill
Four sails turning in the breeze
Windows with a view to please
Within the windmill lies a secret
Of a fairy, nature’s sweetest
Hibernating ‘til time is right
To spread her tiny wings for flight
With eyes as blue as summer showers
Her bodice sprinkled with little flowers
Her face is delicate and bright
Long lashes reflecting dusty light
Inside the creaky mill
Where spiders spin their fill
She waits until the seasons change
Before she flies towards the Grange
She will sprinkle fairy dust
O’er the fields, her works a must
On leaf and flower, tree and fruit
Other fairies she will recruit
Daisy days are on their way
Bees buzzing through the hay
To help them with the pollination
The mill becomes a fairy station
If you happen to pass this place
Glance the window just in case
You see a glow among the grain
A fairy prepares the dust again
