GREAT CHISHILL WINDMILL TRUST CIO

A not-for-profit organisation and registered charity dedicated to saving our windmill

The windmill in Great Chishill is one of only eight open trestle post mills in the UK. In 2011 it was in urgent need of restoration to save it from collapse and preserve it for future generations. Thanks to the Great Chishill Windmill Trust it has been saved.

Windmill Open Days are now every 2nd and 4th Sunday. See dates below. Light refreshments are available on the dates indicated.  

Our annual cycling event on 6th September was very successful with about 50 cyclists trying routes ranging from 48 -106km and visiting Cromer, Bourn or Great Gransden windmills with refreshments back at Great Chishill windmill. Save the date for next year Sunday 7th September 2027.

A recent visitor has produced this musical historic tribute to our Cambridgeshire (!) windmill. Enjoy.

The windmill hosted a drone expert who mapped the windmill and produced an amazing digital 3D model. You can manipulate the image and zoom in and out using your computer controls. Let us know what you think by leaving or emailing us a comment.
